A "Strange fruit" paragraph

In the poem "Strange fruit" the author was trying to show how the South was a mean, cruel, and unforgiving place. The poem which is inspired by a picture of two black men hanging from a tree, shows just how much the South had respect for blacks. The second stanza gets very gruesome while it portrays a beautiful scene but at the same time describing the way the bodies hang from the trees, the way they smell, how the weather rots them away. Yet with what the South had done to poor innocent people they felt that they were helping society by getting rid of them. The way the poem alternates from beautiful to disturbing definitely gets the point across but in a lighter mood, it very much so tells you the details one would rather not hear but then it gives you something pretty to picture to think about before hitting you again with a disturbing one. While the poem never mentions lynching, the metaphors are painfully clear: "Black body swinging in the Southern breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees."
