A "Strange fruit" paragraph
In the poem "Strange fruit" the author was trying to show how the South was a mean, cruel, and unforgiving place. The poem which is inspired by a picture of two black men hanging from a tree, shows just how much the South had respect for blacks. The second stanza gets very gruesome while it portrays a beautiful scene but at the same time describing the way the bodies hang from the trees, the way they smell, how the weather rots them away. Yet with what the South had done to poor innocent people they felt that they were helping society by getting rid of them. The way the poem alternates from beautiful to disturbing definitely gets the point across but in a lighter mood, it very much so tells you the details one would rather not hear but then it gives you something pretty to picture to think about before hitting you again with a disturbing one. While the poem never mentions lynching, the metaphors are painfully clear: "Black body swinging in the Southern breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees."

Vocab story 1
It was year 1500 and Simon, Hunter, Noah, and Strummy were the best gladiators the world had ever seen. They were all preparing for a huge battle today and they were all full of aplomb that they would win. The first to go out and fight the Tigers was Strummy the Ogre and all the others were enlightened that they didn't have to go first! Stummy the Ogre went out and started screaming his head off because he wasn't informed that there were tigers, he was killed instantly. Noah the dense, was sent out next he was was and very big and scary looking but he was actually very innocuous. They only reason he was actually there fighting was because he was promised a pet bunny. He only lasted a little longer than Strummy the Ogre because he was masquerading to be dead. The people in the stands were getting bored because there was no action. So the decided to put both Hunter and Simon in the ring together! They fought and fought Hunter had gotten badly maimed by Simon and then the tigers finished him off. Simon the greatest was crowned the winner and lived a great life.

Harlem Renaissance 1 - Jackson, Haley, Abbie, Caitlin
Jazz was the sound of the 1920s Harlem Renaissance, it was the peoples music even with all of the trouble of accepting colored people. Harlem Renaissance music was defined by the lively clubs and characters who constantly improved and modified jazz's sound. Lots of people were into playing and listening to jazz. Jazz was first documented in New Orleans in the 1920's, it was a fusion of marches, ragtime, popular songs, and the blues. Nightclubs like the Savoy Ballroom, the Apollo Theater, and the Cotton Club were perfect venues to play at so that everyone could enjoy the sounds of jazz. "Crazy Blues" is considered the first blues song, it was recorded by Mamie Smith and with today's standards it is a platinum hit! Bessie smith was another very popular singer right after Mamie Smith. Everyone was into jazz music at the time, whether you were white or black everyone enjoyed it and loved dancing to it! Harlem Renaissance music was more than just music, for many, jazz was a way of life. AbbieHaleyJackson

Paragraph #1 Examples
Miley Cyrus has greatly disappointed her father and many of here fans with her recent actions. From her recent music videos "We can't stop" and "Wrecking ball" she seems to be falling apart. It all started with the hair cut which seemed to be a big deal in the news for the first few days. Her disengagement with Liam was another big problem which caused her to spiral downhill majorly. Also she has this crazy idea that she can "twerk" which is just..no, she needs to stop. Her performance at the VMA's was just horrible, there are not enough words in the English dictionary to describe it. All in all she should just stop doing this "act" of hers and go to Church.

Favorite life story
My favorite life story is when my dad let me shave his head and I decided to make it into a Mohawk. After I made it into a Mohawk the shaver broke and we couldn't figure out how to fix it. So my dad ended up going to work for 2 days before he could get a hair cut and I felt kinda bad but it was really funny
